Pelosi says she would seek another term as House Speaker if Democrats keep majority after election

• Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said she would seek another term as House Speaker if Democrats keep control of the house following the November election in an interview with CNN on Sunday. 
• Additionally, Pelosi said Democrats must win back the Senate majority, which Republicans have held since 2014. 
• Meanwhile, Democrats and Republicans continue to clash on a COVID-19 relief package.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said she would seek another term as House Speaker if Democrats keep the majority in the House of Representatives in an interview with CNN on Sunday.

In January of 2019, Democrats elected Pelosi as speaker of the house after they took back control of the house. Pelosi was sworn in as Speaker of the House only eight years after leaving the position.  To date, Pelosi is the only woman to serve in the role. 

CNN «State of the Union» host Jake Tapper also asked about what she had to say on President Donald Trump’s claims at Thursday’s debate that Republicans will take back the house.

«You keep thinking that Mr. President, you just keep on thinking that,» Pelosi said in response. «That’s another example of a delusional statement he made there.» 

Pelosi added Democrats must win back the Senate majority. Democrats are seeking to regain control of the Senate which Republicans took the majority since 2014. 

Last week, Pelosi set and walked back a 48-hour deadline for negotiators to reach an agreement on the plan and said she was «optimistic» about its outlook although she criticized members of the Trump administration and said «they’re not legislators.»

But Democrats and Republicans continue to clash on a COVID-19 relief package. Last week, Trump said he didn’t «see any way» negotiators would come to an agreement before Election Day.
